Up-to-date HTML references are hard to come by these days and one great HTML reference that I use from time to time is W3Schools.com. Sitepoint just released a brand new HTML reference that has a search function and more relevant categories such as Microformats, Deprecated Elements and Proprietary Elements. It also shows the compatibility of each element with major browsers.
